Pionieri. Un viaggio fotografico nella storia di Edison
Pioneers. A Photographic Journey in the History of Edison was published by Fantom in 2014 on the occasion of Edison’s 130th anniversary. This elegant volume was donated to the corporation’s managers, employees and friends. The book accompanied the exhibitions that inaugurated in November 2013 in Milan and travelled in different sites.
This publication retraces the history of Edison, the oldest energy company in Europe, from its foundation in 1884 up to today. Following the curatorial idea of the exhibition and enriched by a wider body of images, the catalogue presents both archive photographs and a newly-produced series of 18 portraits of employees who represent the Edison of today, alongside an illustrious ex-worker of the company: movie director Ermanno Olmi. With an introductory text by Bruno Lescoeur (CEO of Edison Spa), Pioneers features contributions by Professor Pietro Redondi (Bicocca University of Milan) and Francesco Zanot, photography critic and curator, respectively entitled “Industrial Photography and History” and “The Third Tense of Photography”.
A project commissioned by Direzione Relazioni Esterne e Comunicazione di Edison, curated by Selva Barni per Fantom Editions. Publishing manager: Ilaria Speri; Translations: Bennett Bazalgette; Design: Marco Saccardo. Printed in Italy by Grafiche Antiga
